storytime

Storytime consists of Shifa reading one of her picture books (School chooses!) and afterwards a brief Q and A session. Shifa also sends special fun printables that can be printed via email beforehand to do in class. Kahoot games available for each picture book- kids love these and they boost critical reading comprehension skills.

Writing Workshop- Different Ages

Shifa offers interactive writing workshops for both younger Elementary students as well as Middle and High school age. Students will enjoy taking this writing workshop by Shifa, who is an English Language Arts teacher.

Younger age workshop talks about the magic of words, how reading is important to getting better at becoming a writer, and the basics of a good story.

Older age workshop covers how to write using complex plot techniques and character arc, and also delves into how to career plan and move forward towards becoming an agented author in the traditional industry.

Kareem Between School Visit

This presentation is about Shifa's Award Winning Middle Grade Novel, KAREEM BETWEEN. Perfect for young readers in upper elementary and middle school age, this interactive presentation delves into writing verse novels, social studies themes like good citizenship, middle grade school themes of friendship, sports and football fun, and social emotional learning.

Poetry Workshop

With a focus on poetry, this presentation offers a crash course in learning poetry for kids, with poetic terms explained and a writing activity encouraging young readers to try their own hand at writing poems.
